Healing and Resilience: An Activity Book for Latino Children Impacted by Deportation → 

Recuperación y Resiliencia: Un Libro de Actividades para Niños Latinos Impactados por la Deportación → 

This is a guided activity book for children who have experienced or who are currently experiencing the threat of having one of their parents or other adults who take care of them deported from the United States. The activity book is also for children whose parents or caregivers have been held in a detention center or actually deported from the United States.

CLASP | Immigrant Mental Health Resources →

Coalition of Immigrant Mental Health → 

In response to the anti-immigrant social-political climate, the Coalition for Immigrant Mental Health (CIMH) was created in 2016 by community activists, educators, immigrants, and practitioners. From its inception, CIMH has been a coalition-building effort, working to build the collective capacity within Illinois to promote the well-being and mental health needs of all immigrants and refugees directly impacted by evolving immigration policies and practices.

Latinx Therapists Action Network → 

The Latinx Therapists Action Network is a national network and online platform centering the healing of Latinx migrant peoples and movements. If you are a mental health professional, student or educator and interested in joining their network please share your information with them on their website and they will send you more info.

Psychological First Aid for Displaced Children and Families → 

A set of tools to assist staff in supporting displaced children and families through early transitions. Because each child and family comes with their own experiences and circumstances, it is important to tailor your interactions to meet their unique needs. Practice cultural competency and humility in every interaction (learn about cultural norms and the political, historical context from which the children and families came).

The Distress of Citizen-Children with Detained and Deported Parents → 

Across the three groups the authors found elevated levels of distress, and differences between children who had experienced a parent's detention or deportation and those who had not. They discuss findings in the context of children's clinical needs, future research, and implications for immigration enforcement policy and practices.

La Linterna: Clinical model for trauma-exposed, migrant children → 

La Linterna is an interdisciplinary clinical initiative providing trauma-informed primary care, mental health treatment, immigration legal counsel, and comprehensive case management to children (and their families) exposed to adversities throughout the migration process. Described as the process of implementing an interdisciplinary, trauma-informed practice to meet the medical, mental health, social care needs of this uniquely vulnerable patient population (payment for access is required).

Women's Refugee Commission: Resources for Families Facing Deportation and Separation → 

The following guides and reports provide information about family separation due to detention and deportation, safety planning and child welfare for families facing deportation. The documents provide tools for preventing family separation, resources for families caught between the immigration and child welfare systems, and a comprehensive approach to the question on the lips of every mother facing deportation: “What about my children?” Available in English and Spanish.

Power2U: Directory of Peer Respites → 

A peer respite is a voluntary, short-term, overnight program that provides community-based, non-clinical crisis support to help people find new understanding and ways to move forward. It operates 24 hours per day in a homelike environment, and are staffed and operated by people with psychiatric histories or who have experienced trauma and/or extreme states.
